Creating custom reports and system modifications by request is something we have done for a while now, and is a credit to the flexibility of the MEX system.
In the current process, a job is ordered, the customer is consulted and then we go away and customise the job as specified. On delivery, if the result is not as expected, another consultation is carried out and we go away again. This scenario can be repeated until the right result is achieved and can prove to be very time consuming in some cases.
Here at MEX we understand our customers and know that time is a precious element when it comes to maintenance. Having successfully carried out the one hour report writing sessions at the last user conference, a solution came to mind.
Introducing Collaborative Custom Work.
The main purpose of this will be to provide the work quicker and more accurately to the customer as they will see the work as it’s done and can make changes if needed on the spot. Also with the customer watching it will play out as an informal training session on how the report (work) is done.
This collaboration will be carried out across our developer’s computer through a remote desktop session with the customer, coupled with a phone call to walk through what is happening on the screen. Full communication throughout the whole process will ensure the job is completed to the customer’s satisfaction.
Starting out, Collaborative Work will relate to:
This will not suit all situations and for some situations this might be integrated into certain stages of the project. For example a custom system might be a periodic catch up with the customer to run them through the changes so far so they can give feedback and also bring up any problems before it goes too far.
