Port Moresby has been a hive of activity in preparation for the XV Pacific Games currently being held in Papua New Guinea. With the influx of participants and officials from all over the pacific, the all-important task of ensuring all flights can safely enter PNG air space falls to one of our new MEX customers, PNG Air Services.
PNG Air Services maintains equipment located all throughout Papua New Guinea in relation to navigational aids, RADAR and emergency power generation equipment for local and international flight services.
Seeing the need to manage these assets more efficiently, PNG Air Services looked to the MEX Maintenance Software and for a couple of weeks we had one of our MEX consultants over in Port Moresby to help them get off the ground.
In late June, MEX Trainer Darren Smith was on hand to provide on-site training and assistance towards the implementation of the MEX CMMS for PNG Air Services. PNG Air Services personnel involved in the training were the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planners, Technicians, Communication Officers, NAVAIDS officers and Radar Technicians.
During the ten days on-site the asset register began to take shape, Users and security settings were all applied to the their MEX System. There was time for one-on-one training and also specific group training for key personnel such as the Finance Officers and Stores Controllers.
All in all a very informative trip for both MEX and PNG Air Services, getting off the ground and putting maintenance management on the radar!
