MEX Undergoes Another Successful Penetration Test

In line with our efforts to continuously improve the MEX Maintenance Software, a web application security assessment was carried out with the aim of identifying exploitable vulnerabilities, gain access to systems and provide recommendations to safeguard the application.

Another Penetration Test was performed to align with MEX’s security improvement strategy that has been in motion for the last few years. With more and more customers moving to an online hosted platform, the need to ensure they can access MEX securely is our number one priority.

The criteria used to test the MEX CMMS was the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS). An open standard designed to convey vulnerability severity and risk. No critical or high priority issues were discovered in this round of testing, providing a credit to the developers of MEX. All issues that were identified were immediately fixed and have been included in the latest build of the MEX CMMS. These included:

  • Improved management of passwords
  • Conforming to JSON best practices
  • Further securing Transport Encryption
  • Enhanced cookies management

These tests will be conducted yearly, allowing for a continuous improvement of the usability, safety and access to the MEX Maintenance Software.
