This year, MEX celebrates 25 years in the Maintenance Management industry. Since its establishment in 1993 by MEX MD Stephen Ninnes, MEX has grown to become Australia’s #1 Computerised Maintenance Management System and a leading provider of Maintenance Software.
Since the inception of MEX, the company has grown from strength to strength, where the original team of 2 has expanded to include 25 full time staff. We have gone from a system written in Magic, then onto Microsoft Access, SQL and .Net to the HTML 5 and JavaScript based system that is now accessible on more devices than ever before.
We have accomplished a lot during our first 25 years and have created a very powerful software package which has helped an immense number of customers over the years.
The system has undergone a significant transformation over the past 25 Years to make it into Australia’s Leading CMMS.
Here is a look at how MEX has evolved into what it is today.
In August of 1993, the first version of MEX was created.
The original system was an access based product with both front end & database using Microsoft’s Access platform. Back in the early 1990s, Microsoft Access was the go-to database program to use. Its usability made it ideal for organising small data sets and was perfect to use as the launching platform for MEX.
Our first official version MEX V6 is released. Over the next few years a number of Access Based versions are released following version 6.
MEX 11 is released and becomes the final Access based version. Over the next few year a few builds are pushed out as we transitioned to a new platform.
MEX Version 12 was released showcasing the migration to .Net and SQL. Microsoft SQL became a standard within the technology world where it could handle a larger set of features.
MEX Version 14 was released, a browser-based product supported by Microsoft Silverlight - MEX Sees the Silverlight. V14 delivered the same easy to use feel, but at the same time provided customers with a seamless user experience and faster speeds.
2012 also saw the introduction of the MEX Dashboard and the MEX iOS app.
MEX Version 15 is released and is arguably our best version to date.
MEX is more versatile than ever before. With 12,000 users, 2,000 companies and covering a wide range of industries. The MEX CMMS will continue to grow within the maintenance industry, but at the same time staying true to the MEX brand of simplicity and practicality.
